Council’s Christmas Lighting Trail is back

Murray River Council residents are set to enjoy another bright and dazzling Christmas period, as council once again launches its pop-up lighting trail.

Lighting features will be temporarily installed across the area to complement local parks spaces and to brighten up the towns for the Christmas season.

This year residents will see large lighting installations which will be great for selfies, family photos and for locals to utilise park spaces for outdoor gatherings and events as permitted.

Murray River Council mayor, Chris Bilkey is encouraging residents to hit the road and discover the bursts of colour that will appear in local parks and reserves.

“The feedback from last year’s lighting trail was overwhelmingly positive, so we have worked hard to bring this back to our communities for another year.”

“We’re excited to keep it fresh this year with different types of installations where locals can get up close and enjoy large installations like an oversized reindeer, walkthrough bauble and a large snowflake, just to name a few.” 

“This is an exciting initiative that will provide the opportunity for communities to reconnect and an experience for people of all ages to enjoy.”

“Our parks and reserves offer the perfect canvas for Christmas lights and locals will certainly be impressed with how amazing the spaces look when they are lit up after dark.”

Residents can check-out the pop-up lighting trail at the following locations throughout November and December:

•           Barham, Riverside Park

•           Koraleigh, Recreation Reserve

•           Mathoura, Soldiers Memorial Park

•           Moama, Kerrabee Soundshell

•           Moulamein, The Triangle

•           Murray Downs, RFS Shed

•           Tooleybuc, Mensforth Park

•           Wakool, Playground Park

“Many of our towns are celebrating the arrival of visitors as we slowly opening back up again, particularly during the festive season. We would encourage locals to hit the road and see what’s on in your neighbouring town,” Cr Bilkey said.

The pop-up lighting trail will be installed from 12 November 2021.
