Multicultural communities

Murray River Council warmly welcomes people from all cultures. There are a number of organisations throughout the local area that provide a wide variety of information to new residents and visitors to the region.

Multicultural NSW provides information to all migrants settling in NSW, offering links to useful organisations, websites and resources including housing, education, employment, emergency services, transport, language law and humanitarian services.

For skilled migration and citizenship enquiries, please contact Department of Immigration and Border Protection

Regional Development Australia provides information for skilled migrants in the “Murray” region. To find out more information read the Regional Development Australia booklet.

Disability Services

Murray River Council aims to provide services and facilities to all who live, work or visit the region. The Disability Inclusion Action Plan has identified opportunities to improve services, planning and delivery to eliminate barriers that prevent access and participation to people with a disability.

Public Transport

High quality road and rail infrastructure is available through some areas of council, with daily passenger rail and bus services to Melbourne.

For more information on bus and rail services, visit or contact the Echuca railway station on (03) 5480 7417 or Swan Hill railway station on (03) 5032 4444.
