Restaurants and eateries must get permission from Council to use a public space for outdoor dining. Your application must include:
- A plan or diagram showing the seating and table arrangements. Include dimensions of area as well as dimension of seating and table arrangement. In your plans you should also:
- Allow for enough room (on the footpath) for pedestrian access (to pass by) as well as wheelchair access.
- Show the distinction between dining area and footpath and/or carpark (if it affects parking areas).
- If the area is covered (such as a verandah) – show the depth of the verandah in relation to seating arrangements.
- If umbrellas may be utilised, indicate how they shall be secured (so as not to pose a flying hazard in high winds).
- Days and times of operation of outdoor dining.
- Evidence of adequate public liability insurance.
