All beauty and skin penetration operators are required to be registered with Council.
Skin Penetration procedures are any procedure (whether medical or not) that involves skin penetration or the penetration of a mucous membrane.
Examples include:
- acupuncture and dry needling
- body or skin piercing (of any kind, ear, nose etc)
- cosmetic enhancements (ie. fillers)
- beauty treatments (ie. manicures and pedicures)
- colon cleanse / colonic lavage
- hair removal, (including waxing)
- tattooing (including eyebrow tattooing); and
- blood cholesterol and glucose measurement.
Even if you are taking over an established beauty salon or tattoo parlour, you will need to submit an application to council.
Things to consider:
Along with notifying, you may require planning approval for a variety of things to operate such as:
- building a brand-new skin premise
- changing an existing building into a beauty or skin penetration premise
- running a hair beauty or skin penetration business from home.
If any of these relate to you, please contact Council's Development Services Team on 1300 087 004 or email the team at admin@murrayriver.nsw.gov.au prior to submitting your application for a permit.
When lodging your application:
- Make sure you have your business details on hand, including your ABN.
Application fees also apply.
