Apply for citizenship

 

Step 1.Visit the Department of Home Affairs website

Here you can check your eligibility and find out costs, requirements and anticipated processing times. You can also phone 13 18 80.

Step 2.Complete the relevant application forms

If you are eligible, you will need to provide evidence that you meet requirements, then fill out the application form.

Step 3.Have an interview

After completing the application, you will be interviewed and your application will be assessed by the Department of Home Affairs.

Step 4.Wait for a decision

Step 5.Outcome

Once assessed and if approved, your Certificate of Australian Citizenship is sent to Council ready for the Citizenship Ceremony.
