We're looking to streamline what assets we are ‘investing’ in to make and keep Murray River Council sustainable into the future.
The former Murray Shire Council took over management of the Mathoura Pioneer Cemetery in the 1960's with the first interments taking place in the late 1800’s.
The Pioneer Cemetery consists of four religious sections including Anglican (also known as Church of England), Presbyterian, Methodist and Roman Catholic, allowing both burials and cremated remains.
Vehicle access for burials, monumental masons, visitors and maintenance staff into the cemetery is from Cemetery Road. This access leads into a gravelled area and allows direct access to the burial sections for funeral directors, monumental masons and maintenance staff.
