Less pressure. More purpose. A surveying role that gives you your life back.
If you’re a registered Building Surveyor who loves the technical side of the job but is tired of commercial pressure, relentless timelines and client chasing, this is your opportunity to step into a role where your expertise is respected, and your work genuinely matters.
Murray River Council is seeking an experienced, registered Building Surveyor to join our Development Services team and deliver high‑quality certification and inspection services that directly support safe, compliant and liveable communities.
This is not a desk‑only role, and it’s not a cookie‑cutter inspection stream. This role is deliberately structured so you can focus on building surveying, food premises and health‑related inspections are handled by a separate specialist team, meaning you get more time on the inspections and approvals that matter most.
Registered in Victoria? That’s okay.
We’ll pay for your NSW registration and personally support you through the transition — so you can focus on the work, not the paperwork.
Why you will want this role:
- Real work–life balance with hybrid working and predictable hours
- No sales pressure. No fee chasing or commercial targets
- Focus on the good stuff - No food premises or health-related inspections
- Autonomy and professional trust in your decisions
- Genuine variety not the same inspection every day

- Council‑funded support for registration, CPD and AAC Membership.
- Relocation assistance available if you’re ready for a lifestyle reset
What you will be doing:
As part of Council’s Building Surveying team, you will provide expert advice and carry out Council’s statutory functions to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, codes and standards.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking and signing off a broad range of inspections and approvals, including:
