Asset Management Planning allows Council to understand the condition of current assets and ensures effective decision-making regarding new assets as well as overall long-term asset management. It also promotes accountability for the potential impacts on future generations, regional growth and financial requirements.
When looking at asset management there are three interrelated planning processes:
Assets include but are not limited to road, water and sewerage infrastructure, drains, bridges, footpaths, buildings, recreational facilities, parks and open spaces.
This Asset Management Strategy identifies how Council will manage and maintain infrastructure assets valued at $1.39 billion. It outlines a pathway to improve asset management practices and highlights the current gap between lifecycle funding needs and available revenue.
It is also supported by an Asset Management Policy, available for viewing here.
