Murray River Council will take its council meetings on the road this year after council resolved to hold a number of monthly meetings in several towns within the municipality.

Council Meeting venues will alternate between the council chambers in Moama and locations in Moulamein, Barham and Mathoura up until September this year.

Mayor Chris Bilkey said there is a lot of value in travelling to different towns for meetings.

“Visiting other locations gives our community the opportunity to attend our meetings and have access to the level of government closest to them.”

“We will also be having informal catch-up sessions with the community prior to the official meetings, so it’s also a great way to personally engage with residents from all corners of our council,” he said.

Moulamein will host the first touring meeting next month on March 22 at the Bowling Club.

Community members are invited to attend a lunch at 12pm with the official meeting kicking off at 2pm.

The next touring meetings will be in Barham on May 24 and Mathoura on August 23.

All other dates remain at the Council Chambers in Moama.
