Murray River Council has endorsed its 2024/25 Annual Report, highlighting a year of progress, review and strong advocacy for the region.

Mayor, Cr John Harvie said the report reflects the community and organisation working together to deliver positive outcomes.

“This past year has been one of renewals and advocacy, and we are proud of the way our community and organisation have continued to deliver for our region,” Cr Harvie said.

The report details major achievements including road and infrastructure upgrades, investment in waste and recycling and continued progress on projects that support growth and liveability.

Council has also continued to advocate for fairer funding, calling for the restoration of Financial Assistance Grants to at least one percent of Commonwealth taxation revenue.

“Like many councils, we face growing cost pressures and reduced funding, so advocacy for fair and sustainable support remains a key priority,” Cr Harvie said.

Work also advanced on a new Murray River Local Environmental Plan, along with supporting strategies to ensure land is appropriately zoned for housing, employment and growth.

“Looking ahead, we remain committed to listening to our community, refining how we deliver services, and advocating strongly for the projects and support our region needs to thrive,” Cr Harvie said.

The Murray River Council 2024/25 Annual Report with Financial Statements will be available for viewing on the Council’s website.
