Meninya St project brought to life through concept designs

Murray River Council have this week adopted the draft Concept Designs for Meninya Street as part of the Meninya Street Precinct Project.
The designs will soon be on display for viewing and public comment to ensure the needs of interested businesses and community members are met.
“The concept designs showcase the future vision for Meninya Street by highlighting enhancements to the streetscape and Kerrabee Soundshell Precinct,” Acting Mayor, Frank Crawley said.
“Focusing on increasing pedestrian activity and economic development within Moama, the project aims to improve safety, accessibility and visual appearance of the streetscape,” he said.
Informed by community feedback, the designs were developed utilising input from residents and business owners on the Meninya Street Advisory Committee as well as the issues and opportunities identified in the 2019 Meninya St Master Plan.
The Meninya Street Precinct Project is one of Murray River Council’s largest projects that aims to transform the heart of Moama into a vibrant precinct of social and economic activity.
“Reshaping Meninya Street from a transport thoroughfare into an innovative and sustainable precinct, this project intends to position Moama as a key tourist destination,” Cr Crawley said.
“Strategically investing in infrastructure, parks and open spaces, and surrounding points of interest, Council aims to create a 'sense of place' and support high intensity developments including multi-level and multi-function spaces for business and the community to thrive.”
Delivered in a staged approach, the multi-year project will enhance not only Meninya Street, but the surrounding points of interest including the Horseshoe Lagoon, Moama Beach and the local bush area.
Consultation surrounding the designs will commence online in the coming week, supported by drop-in sessions in Moama where people can view the plans and provide feedback in person.

Feedback and comments provided by the public will be reviewed by the project team to identify any required changes or amendments to future designs.
Any required alterations to the streetscape will be reflected in future design outputs including the 3-dimensional flythrough video and construction designs scheduled for production in the new financial year.
