Moama Christmas bauble to be removed
Published on 29 November 2021
Moama’s Christmas bauble installation at Kerrabee Soundshell will now be removed due to damage by vandals over this past weekend.
CCTV footage of the incidents has been handed over to police, however the damage to the display is so extensive that Murray River Council have been left with no choice but to remove it.
The damage to the frame of the feature attraction has left the overall structure severely compromised and in need of large repairs.
The display is now closed for safety reasons and the structure will be removed.
"To say we are disappointed is a gross understatement,” Mayor Chris Bilkey said.
"A lot of hard work, time and money has been invested in the Christmas lighting trail and it is extremely disappointing that we have been forced to make this decision.”
“We are mostly disappointed because our locals and visitors now don’t get to enjoy the full extent of our light installations in Moama thanks to the selfish stupidity of a small few,” he said.
2021 marks the second year of Murray River Council’s Christmas lighting installations across the council area.
Locals can still experience the lighting trail in other towns including Mathoura, Wakool, Barham, Tooleybuc, Koraleigh and Murray Downs.
