One week left to have your say

Murray River Council residents still have time to have their say on the future of the region as Council hits the final week of consultation for its new Community Strategic Plan.

Seven days of community meetings were held across the council area last week, where residents and community groups had a chance to offer ideas, feedback and suggestions to be fed into the 10-year Plan.

“A big thank you to the communities across the council for turning up and letting us know what is important to them,” Mayor Chris Bilkey said.

“We have gathered literally hundreds of items of feedback; from the very easily addressed to the big picture pie-in-the-sky ideas that challenge us to be ready for the changing times.”

“This type of engagement from the community will go a long way in assisting us to develop a Plan that works for council now and into the future.”

Cr Bilkey said there was still time for residents to have their say.

“If you have missed out on the face-to-face meetings, don’t despair; you can still contribute via Council’s Your Say portal, so don’t leave that great idea uncommunicated!”

The Community Strategic Plan is Council’s ten-year plan that outlines the long-term vision and goals of the community.

It also directs both short-term projects and a longer-term program of works to be delivered by Council.

Submissions of ideas or comments can be made online via Council’s Your Say platform until 27 February.

“This is an opportunity to have input into local decision making and be active in shaping our future, so I’d encourage residents to have their say now,” Cr Bilkey said.
