Murray River Council will be hosting a Perricoota Road Community Drop-in Session on May 18 to discuss future plans for road maintenance along 14km of the unsealed stretch.
The meeting will give locals an opportunity to express their concerns or provide feedback on potential solutions for ongoing maintenance.
Representatives from council will be present to provide information and answer questions.
Council’s Director of Infrastructure, Jack Bond is encouraging all interested community members to attend.
“We understand the concerns of our residents regarding the unsealed section of the road, and we are committed to exploring solutions with the community that can be sustained in the longer term,” he said.
Mr Bond added that whilst there is no quick fix, some upcoming works will offer noticeable improvements.
“We are currently finalising a program of gravel resheeting works thanks to $1,398,477 of funding through the State Government’s Fixing Local Roads Program.”
“But before we commence the works, we would like to touch base with the local community to provide a general update and to ensure any additional concerns are captured.”
“We will be at the community drop-in session to hear all feedback and suggestions, so I’d certainly encourage people to attend,” he said.
The pop-in session will be held at the Womboota Hall from 2pm - 6pm on Thursday 18 May 2023.
Community members are encouraged to ‘pop-in’ at any stage during that time and bring along concerns or ideas for increasing safety measures along the road.
Joining Mr Bond at the meeting will be Council’s Works Superintendent, Project Engineers, and Road Specialists.
This will be the main chance to provide feedback before the upgrade works commence
