There are 4 different types of public lands in the Riverina where firewood collection can occur. They all have different policies and are managed by a different agencies. The four areas each require a specific permit that only allows firewood collection under certain conditions.

Murray Valley National Park - Tin Hut and Dora Creek Collection Areas.
Permits are now available for domestic firewood collection in the Murray Valley National Park - Tin Hut and Dora Creek Collection Areas.
Firewood collection is available from 1 April until 30 September 2024.
- The cost of firewood is $30/tonne or $20/tonne for concession card holders.
- A maximum of 3 tonnes per permit and 6 tonnes per year
- Firewood is for personal household use only and may not be on-sold.
This year, permits can only be obtained online or via phone, not via Murray River Council offices as per previous years, and applicants must have a valid email address to apply for a permit.
