The NSW Department of Planning and Environment has released the draft Riverina Murray Regional Plan 2041…and you can now have your say on the future of the region.

The plan sets the framework, vision and direction for strategic land-use planning to meet future needs for housing, jobs, infrastructure, a healthy environment and connected communities.

The first Riverina Murray Regional Plan – which looked forward to 2036 – was released in 2017. Regional plans are reviewed and updated every 5 years to reset priorities and extend their reach. This draft plan, which looks out to 2041, builds on the previous plan. Its development follows consultation with councils, the community and other stakeholders over the past 18 months.

The draft plan will harness opportunities from the following catalyst projects:

  • Wagga Wagga Special Activation Precinct
  • Albury Regional Job Precinct
  • Inland Rail
  • South-West Renewable Energy Zone
  • Murray River bridges projects.

The draft plan will also address changing housing needs including providing different types of housing to meet changing demographics and the needs of temporary workers and visitors.
