Background
The Council-owned site at Lot 1 DP 1267277 Gonn Road Barham has been identified for the development of a new micro-abattoir. This project has been discussed for nearly two years, with Council purchasing the land and taking on the role of Project Manager for funding and grant applications from the operators Murray Plains Meat Cooperative.
To facilitate this project, Council prepared a Planning Proposal which seeks reclassification of this land from ‘community land’ to ‘operational land. As part of the consultation process for the Planning Proposal, we held a Public Hearing on Thursday 3rd February 2022 in Barham. This gave the community an opportunity to share feedback on the proposal.
The Report
On Friday 11 February 2022, we received a copy of the Public Hearing Report produced by the independent facilitator of the Public Hearing.
A copy of the report is available for viewing below. It will also feature in the Agenda for the Council meeting being held on 22 February 2022. To view a hard copy of the report, please pop in to Council's Barham office and speak with one of our customer service team (a copy of the report has been placed at the Counter for inspection).
For any questions relating to the Public Hearing Report, please chat with Acting Senior Town Planner, Melanie Squires.
