Agricultural sector

ABARES (Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Science) the science and economics research bureau within the Australian Government Department of Agriculture and Water Resources. ABARES performs its role to support the strategic objectives of the Department: building successful primary industries; supporting agricultural communities; expanding agricultural, fisheries and forestry exports; sustaining natural resources for longer term productive primary industries; managing biosecurity and imported food risk.

Department of Agriculture and Water and the Environment's role is to develop and implement policies and programs to ensure Australia's agricultural, fisheries, food and forestry industries remain competitive, profitable and sustainable, and supports the sustainable and productive management and use of rivers and water resources.

NSW Department of Primary Industries acts in partnership with industry and other public sector organisations to foster profitable and sustainable development of primary industries in NSW.

Apprenticeships

Australian Apprenticeships encompass all apprenticeships and traineeships. They combine time at work with training and can be full-time, part-time or school-based. They are available to anyone of working age and do not require any entry qualifications. 

NSW Department of Education and Training provides TAFE NSW courses and is particularly focused on addressing the training needs of industry and meeting the challenge of skills shortages in certain trades.

NSW Department of Industry – Office of Regional Development works with businesses to strengthen the State's global competitiveness, promote investment and job creation and build business capability.

NSW Small Business Commissioner for people starting, running or growing a small business. We're here to help small businesses operate as professionally, as efficiently and as successfully as they can.

Business licencing

Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA)  information regarding licences required for using music in pubs, clubs, fitness centres, shops, cinemas, festivals, whether performed live, on CDs or played on the radio or television.

Australian Business Licence & Information Service helps you find the government licences, permits, approvals, registrations, codes of practice, standards and guidelines you need to know about to meet your compliance responsibilities.

 NSW Fair Trading safeguards the rights of all consumers and advises business and traders on fair and ethical practice.

Consumer and corporate information

Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC)  Promotes competition and fair trade in markets to benefit consumers, businesses and the community. Our primary responsibility is to ensure that individuals and businesses comply with Australian competition, fair trading, and consumer protection laws - in particular the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.

Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC)  is Australia's corporate, markets and financial services regulator.

Cross Border Commissioner

The Office of the NSW Cross Border Commissioner (CBC) identifies and helps resolve issues that occur by being located near a state border.

The CBC assists businesses, organisations and individuals who live, work and operate in cross-border areas of NSW by helping to connect them to the most appropriate agency to ensure their issue is addressed. They work closely with the bordering states of NSW to gain an understanding of cross border issues and to develop a framework for the raising and resolution of cross border issues.

The Office of the NSW Cross Border Commissioner aims to achieve the best outcome for stakeholders by informing, connecting and advocating on behalf of NSW cross border communities.

Employer information

Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry takes a lead role in representing the views of business to government and ensures that legislation or proposed policy approaches at a national level address the needs of Australian businesses.

Australian Federation of Employers & Industries (AFEI)  main role is to advise, represent and assist employers in meeting their obligations relating to workplace relations, to assist them with human resources management, to provide OHS and other relevant training, and to seek appropriate regulation from government.

NSW Business Chamber assists businesses of all sizes to manage their people and growth more efficiently. They provide hands on assistance to identify your workplace challenges and help you sustain and grow your business.

Industrial relations

NSW Industrial Relations primary responsibilities are to monitor wages, employment rights, obligations and employment conditions in NSW. They also provide advice and information to both workers and employers. Their aim is to achieve fairness and equity for all at work.

Legal

Attorney-General's Department services the people of Australia by providing essential expert support to the Government in the maintenance and improvement of Australia's system of law and justice and its national security and emergency management systems.

Superannuation and taxation

Australian Taxation Office - Superannuation is the Government's principal revenue collection agency, whose role is to manage and shape tax, excise and superannuation systems that fund services for Australians.

Australian Taxation Office - Business information about business income tax, fringe benefits tax (FBT), goods and services tax (GST), pay as you go (PAYG) and activity statements including lodgement and payments, accounts and business registration (including Australian Business Number and tax file number).

Destination NSW is the lead government agency for the New South Wales (NSW) tourism and major events sectors.

Murray Regional Tourism (MRT) is the peak Regional Tourism Organisation representing the Murray Region. Tourism Australia is the Australian Government agency responsible for the international and domestic marketing of Australia as a destination for leisure and business travel.

Tourism Research Australia is Australia's leading provider of quality tourism intelligence across both international and domestic markets. We equip industry with information to strengthen their marketing and business decisions.

Work Health and Safety

Safe Work Australia leads the development of national policy to improve work health and safety and workers’ compensation arrangements across Australia.

Safe Work NSW administers occupational health and safety, injury management, return to work and workers compensation laws, and manage the workers compensation system.
