At Murray River Council, we believe strong communities are built through connection, collaboration, and creativity. We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Manager of Community Connections to lead our community development, engagement, arts and culture, volunteering, and grants programs.

In this pivotal role, you’ll drive initiatives that enhance liveability, celebrate diversity, and empower local groups to make a lasting impact.

You’ll work across a rich mix of rural towns, river communities, and cultural landscapes, building strong relationships and delivering outcomes that matter.

In this role you will:

  • Lead strategic initiatives in community development, arts, culture, and heritage
  • Strengthen partnerships with community groups, First Nations , and key stakeholders
  • Oversee volunteer networks and Section 355 Committees, ensuring strong governance
  • Manage community and internal grant programs to deliver meaningful local outcomes
  • Coordinate major community events including NAIDOC Week, Australia Day Awards, and more

Ideal candidate profile:

You’re an inspiring leader with a passion for building community capacity. You have proven experience in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and program delivery. Your leadership style fosters collaboration, inclusion, and innovation, and you can confidently manage people, budgets, and governance requirements.

What you’ll need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in community development, business management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing community programs
  • Strong knowledge of governance, risk management, and cultural inclusion strategies
  • Current Driver’s Licence, WWCC (NSW), and National Police Check
