About the Opportunity
Murray River Council is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Plant Operator to join our Works & Infrastructure team based in Moama.
In this hands-on role, you will contribute to the delivery of Council’s works program by undertaking a range of plant operation and labouring tasks across road construction, maintenance, drainage, and town infrastructure projects. This is a great opportunity to work outdoors, be part of a supportive team, and make a tangible impact in your local community.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for a variety of operational duties, including:
- Operating plant and equipment safely and competently
- Undertaking general labouring tasks such as trenching, backfilling, and pipe laying
- Supporting road construction, maintenance and drainage works
- Traffic control and signage maintenance
- Vegetation management, slashing, and asset maintenance
- Conducting minor servicing and maintenance of plant and equipment
- Reporting faults, hazards and operational issues
- Contributing to team activities and operational reporting
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in road construction, maintenance, or drainage operations
- Is skilled in operating plant and equipment (relevant tickets/licences required)
- Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrates strong commitment to safety and compliance
- Has sound problem-solving and organisational skills
- Communicates effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
What you need to be successful:
- MR Licence (or higher)
- Traffic Controller / Implement Traffic Control Plans certification (Safework NSW)
- Construction Induction Card (White Card or equivalent)
- National Police Check
- Pre-employment medical
Salary & Benefits
Salary ranging from $61,885 to $69,311
