What You'll Do
As a Workshop Mechanic at Murray River Council, you will play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and servicing our Council’s fleet and plant equipment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing vehicle maintenance, repairs, and servicing on all Council fleet and plant.
  • Assisting the Workshop/Fleet Manager in managing all workshop activities.
  • Ensuring all maintenance and repairs are done in accordance with approved specifications and procedures.
  • Promoting a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to WHS guidelines.
  • Operating plant and equipment competently and securely.

Location: This role is based in Mathoura with some travel throughout the Council areas as required.

Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent).
  • Has a current HR Driver’s Licence and a White Card (or willing to obtain).
  • Has at least 2 years of experience in a similar role, diagnosing and resolving vehicle, plant and equipment problems.
  • Is comfortable using technology (computers, tablets, mobile devices) and willing to learn additional programs as needed.
  • Is a proactive problem solver with strong decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrates sound communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.

To be successful, you will also need:

  • A current Driver’s Licence.
  • A National Police Check.
