Have your say: Community Strategic Plan consultation kicks-off
Published on 27 January 2022
The Murray River Council community is being invited to have their say on the future of the region as Council kicks off the consultation stage for the development of its new Community Strategic Plan.
The Community Strategic Plan is Council’s ten-year plan that outlines the long-term vision and goals of the community.
It also directs both short-term projects and a longer-term program of works to be delivered by Council.
Mayor Chris Bilkey said this was an exciting opportunity for the community to have their say on the types of services, projects and initiatives Council delivers.
"It’s the community’s chance to shape what we do by letting us know what is important to them and highlight any local opportunities.”
“There will be residents that have a clever solution to a local challenge or a creative idea to take the region to the next level. Whatever the thoughts; we want to hear them!”
For the upcoming stage of consultation, the community will have their chance to provide comment on the overall goals Council is proposing and submit suggestions of projects or initiatives that might be delivered.
A series of local workshops are taking place across the council from 6-12 February, where community members can drop in and have their say.
Submissions of ideas or comments can also be made online via Council’s Your Say platform.
“Our yearly program of works must link back to our Community Strategic Plan- so the importance of community input cannot be overstated.”
“This is an opportunity to have input into local decision making and be active in shaping our future, so I’d encourage residents to pop along and see us at one of the workshops in the coming weeks,” Cr Bilkey said.
