Murray Downs: Welcome to Yellymong Park

Murray Downs Riverside Park will now be known as Yellymong Park Murray Downs.

The name change was adopted at Murray River Council’s August ordinary meeting, following a request from the Murray Downs community.

Late last year, the Murray Downs Riverside Park Committee surveyed the local area to see if there was an appetite to change the name based on the similarities to other park names in the area.

Following a survey to gauges ideas and suggestions, the committee proposed the name ‘Yellymong’ be used.

“Yellymong is the Parish name that the park is located in,” Mayor Chris Bilkey said

“It is significant to the area and the committee believe that it is unique and will represent the area very well.”

The park is currently being developed for the Murray Downs community, with a new public boat ramp on-track to be installed as part of the ongoing improvements.
