Local event organisers now have access to new promotional space, with Murray River Council this week installing a new welcome and event promotion sign over the pedestrian walkway on the Barham Koondrook Bridge.

Similar to the popular bridge sign in Echuca Moama, the Barham Koondrook Bridge sign serves as both a town entry welcome and an event promotion tool, providing high-visibility exposure for local events.

Murray River Council Mayor, John Harvie said the initiative will meet the needs of many local groups looking to attract visitors and engage the community.

“We know how much work goes into running local events, and this new sign gives organisers a great opportunity to promote their event to both locals and visitors as they cross the bridge into Barham.”

Event organisers can now book a spot to have their event displayed on the sign. A procedure and online form have been developed to guide community members through the booking process and the requirements for having signs produced.

All costs for sign design, printing and installation are to be covered by the booking party. Signs must be printed as a vinyl sticker applied to the existing metal panel, as detailed in the booking guidelines.

“This sign is another way we are supporting local events and helping to showcase everything our region has to offer,” Cr Harvie said.
