Traffic changes will be in place along Gonn Road while work is underway to replace the Little Barbers Creek offtake regulator, starting in late September 2025.
Traffic will be impacted along approximately 2 km of Gonn Road, southeast of Sandy Bridge Road. Works will continue through to early 2026.
The road will remain open, but traffic impacts may include:
- temporary speed limit adjustments
- lane closures, with traffic being diverted onto temporary bypass roads
- various traffic control measures such as signage, traffic lights and traffic controllers.
The changes to traffic conditions are necessary for the safety of workers and the wider community as we replace the obsolete infrastructure. We appreciate the communities’ patience and cooperation during this time.
Traffic conditions will change as the work progresses.
About the works:
The replacement of the regulator on Gonn Road will enable more efficient delivery of water into Little Barbers Creek. It will also assist in the dilution of potential black water events resulting from increased flows from the Koondrook-Perricoota Forest Project.
The Koondrook-Perricoota Forest Project aims to reduce the impacts of environmental water releases on landholders adjacent to the forest, allowing greater volumes of water to be delivered into the forest.
The project is one of 5 projects being delivered under the Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Mechanism (SDLAM) Acceleration Program, which is designed to achieve similar or improved environmental outcomes for rivers, wetlands and wildlife using less water. The program offsets the requirement for water purchases, ensuring viable communities and healthy environments.
