Off-leash exercise areas

Companion animals can be exercised off-leash in a number of places in our council area.

However it is important that the animal is under the control of a competent person.

The owner must not let their pet be a menace to any person, child, or animal while being exercised.

The off-lead exercise areas include:

Moama Off-Leash Dog Park

Where: Moama Recreation Reserve. Perricoota Rd, Moama

The Off-leash dog park in Moama has been a welcome addition to the Moama Recreation Reserve with many people and their dogs utilising the space during recent months.

Remember, it is a condition of entry that the Companion Animals Act 1998  be adhered to at all times while in and around the park. This includes but not limited to;

  • Ensuring dogs are on a lead and under effective control whilst entering and exiting the park.
  • One animal per person, under effective control at all times by a person not younger than 16 years of age.
  • Animals must be supervised and under effective control at all times.
  • Owners are responsible to collect and dispose of faeces using bags and bins supplied. Owners are also reminded to bring their own bags in case dispensers are empty.
  • All animals should be vaccinated before entering the site.
  • All animals must wear a collar and ID tag at all times in the park.
  • No food is allowed in the park.

Small dog area

In response to community requests, the parks ‘small dog area’ now has an external access gate, at the western end of the site. This allows for those smaller, timid, nervous or ‘not as social’ dogs to enter and exit the site without having to interact with larger or more social animals.
