Did you know we now have a Biosecurity Team at Council?

These weed warriors bring accumulated experience and expert knowledge regarding all-things-weeds!

Landholders are encouraged to contact a member of the team via 1300 087 004 for any weed related issues. They can help you identify weeds and provide advice on appropriate management.

The first point of contact is the State Government Enviro line, and not Council.

A note on our Parks & Biosecurity activities and pesticide use

Murray River Council undertakes pesticide spraying and other pest management activities from time to time to manage weeds, invasive species and other environmental risks across Council-managed land and assets.

Council may use a range of approved pesticides, including herbicides and insecticides.

Pesticides may be applied using a range of methods, including:

  • handheld spray bottles, wands or backpack sprayers
  • vehicle-mounted or volume sprayers with a handgun (QuikSpray Unit)
  • indoor insect control

Spraying may occur in parks, reserves, roadsides, facilities and other Council-managed areas as required.

Please be aware of pesticide application activities when using Council-managed areas. Where appropriate, warning signs may be displayed at the time of spraying, however signage may not be required for every application.

Council undertakes pesticide use in accordance with relevant legislation.

For your safety, please follow any directions provided by Council staff and avoid contact with treated areas or surfaces where advised.
