FLOOD STUDY REVIEW: 2024

Murray River Council, in conjunction with WMS Engineering consultants have underaken a review of the Moulamein Flood Study.

The Moulamein Flood Study was first developed in 2019, prior to the 2022 floods, so we want to thoroughly review and update the current flood study with data collected from this most recent event - which had the largest flood levels on record.

The Flood Study review has ensured mapping and plans capture all relevant data to support flood preparedness and response activities in the future. The updated, adopted Final Review and Mapping is available below.

A major milestone was achieved on the 23 April 2024 with both Murray River and Campaspe Shire Councils’ adoption of the Echuca Moama Flood Study component of the Echuca Moama Torrumbarry Flood Study and Risk Management Plan. Interactive mapping and the report is available via the link below.

Moama Flood Risk Management Study and Plan

Council has formally endorsed the Moama Flood Risk Management Study and Plan at the July 2025 Council meeting.

The adopted Plan recommends a range of actions including flood mitigation works, updates to development controls, and improvements to local flood warning systems. These measures aim to reduce the risk and potential damage from future riverine flooding events and support responding agencies during emergencies.
